Most disputes on Portuguese jobs start with a quote that looked fine on the day it was signed. The gaps are usually in what isn’t written down.

What you get back. Written notes within 48 hours: what’s missing, what looks light, what looks expensive, how the payment stages should be tied to work actually done, and the questions to ask before you sign. If the price looks right for the scope, we say so.

€220 + IVA for one quote. €120 + IVA for each extra quote compared side by side. €490 + IVA where the quote depends on site conditions and we need to see the building. Jobs over about €150,000 are quoted to scope.

This is a construction and cost review. The contract terms, licensing and anything legal belong with your lawyer. We don’t take referral fees from builders and we don’t tender for the work ourselves.

What the notes look like

Five sections, written plainly.

  1. Our view of the price. Whether it looks right for the scope as written, light, or high, and why.
  2. What’s missing or unclear. Work the job will need that the quote doesn’t mention, and wording that leaves room for extras.
  3. Quantities and allowances. Measurements that don’t match the drawings, and provisional sums that look too low to be real.
  4. Payments. Whether the deposit and stage payments are tied to work actually done, and what we’d change.
  5. Questions for the builder. A short list you can send as it is, in English or Portuguese.

How to send it. Attach the quote to the form below, or email the quote, drawings and any photos to admin@antipodeanporto.net with “Quote Check” in the subject. WhatsApp works too. We confirm the fee and the delivery date before we start.
